Robin getting dressed up to dish out the icecream (into warmer clothes0

Icecream day for Robin's goodbye - those are two of the 3 buckets of icecream we got, bananas are in the plates net to it and then crackers and my laptop to supply party music!

Peaking in from outside the window!

Kids outside the window observing the handpainting (while getting soaked by rain)

Caroline putting her print on the door - the really drippy ones were our first attempts where the kids dunked their hands into the paint. We then learned and began painting the hands themselves.

Robin washing the black off of Joseph's hand after he did his handprint on the door.

Cataloging all the books! All 731 of them!

Kids and their handprints - placing them on the door!

Next town down there road where we were told we could find everythign we needed. Well, there was no icecream, there were no school shoes, and there was no internet, but there was a Hotel with Conference facilities.

After probably more than 30 hours worth of labour, Robin is finally finishing the last letter on our footprints poem.

Kids goofing off before the camera.

The group of Canadians (11 of them). Great bunch... too bad that they only stayed for about one week.

Had a gorgeous sunset one of these days! Just stunning and the best part of it is that we could admire it right from our front stairs.

How about this sign? It appears all over the country. This particular one is from the village of Kirengero where we're staying.

Little Diana!

Me and Josephine at Jane's place.

For Jane's last night in Kirengero we went over to her place for some dinner that she prepared. I'm currently in the process of dicing up some meat

After a long trip to Kisumu we came to relax a bit in "our library". The walls all had their first coat by now and you can also see the varnished boards for the shelf. This is the latest photo I have of the library, but in reality it look a billion times better by now. The shelves are mounted, and the tables are painted dark green. The fireplace mouldings are also up and there is a poem over the mantel. Plus there's books, books and more books...

More painting. The walls slowly starting to look presentable.

Me sawing at some of the boards that would later comprise our un-level, un-symetrical, and un-precise bookshelf.

Trying to finish the mouldings. You can seethe contrast of the color ofthe walls vs. the first coat that is already on the fireplace. Plus the white trim of the mouldingalready makes a huge difference (as does the door).

Just take a look at this paint.... Dad, I know that this might not be the most conventional way of cleaning rollers, but it's all we could do.

Trying to wash the roller after the first coat of blue paint. With only limited quantities of paint thinner and no running water this was the best we could do, but it really backfired. The paint wouldn't come off anything it touched - whether it would be Robin's hands or the roller itslef.

Peter... the oldest boy at the home. He's already done highschool and helps out teaching at the local primary school.

Beth (or Grace) the other twin.
